Dr. Greg Headington, born in Dallas, Texas in 1951, is the Founder and Executive Director of Global Faith Project, dedicated to expanding the kingdom of God through local churches worldwide. As a Bible teacher and Presbyterian pastor, Greg is committed to sharing the good news of Jesus Christ. For the past 25 years, he has traveled extensively to encourage followers of Jesus, with a particular focus on impoverished or high-risk areas in North Africa, especially Algeria, Central America, and Cuba.
Greg's journey began at Oklahoma State University, where he played on the varsity tennis team and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in English in 1973. During his college years, he co-founded Young Life, a Christian formation and character development program for young people. He continued his theological studies at Fuller Theological Seminary in Pasadena, California, earning a Masters in Divinity and a Doctorate of Ministry.
In the 1980s, Greg served as the Associate Pastor at First Presbyterian Houston, where he initiated AIDS outreach programs and contributed to various humanitarian efforts, including starting orphanages in Mexico and Bolivia. Greg's commitment to social causes extended to prison ministry, addiction recovery, and support for pregnant women. He served as Chaplain to the Houston Rockets, Astros, and Oilers in the early 1990s. In 2010, Greg founded the Global Faith Project, linking resources in the United States with needs in the majority world.
Since returning to Dallas in 2011, he has been actively involved in the Greater Dallas Coalition, international student ministry, and the creation of the Dallas Champions Academy with his wife, Carrie Boren. Together, they have empowered 133 young people from poverty-stricken homes to attend college, receiving scholarships and mentoring.
In 2018, Dr. Headington received the Lombardi Humanitarian Award for his lifelong service. Greg and Carrie live their lives in service to others, proclaiming the good news of Jesus and building up the church.
