One Youth Projects
One Youth Global successfully orchestrated the One Youth Policy Summit from July 20th to 21st, 2023, in Abakaliki, Ebonyi State. The summit gathered young leaders, engaging them with policymakers to devise innovative policy solutions for the challenges confronting Ebonyi State. Over two days, participants actively contributed to outcome-driven discussions, ensuring the inclusion of their voices in shaping the state's future.
The summit aimed at identifying challenges, learning from diverse perspectives, formulating policy solutions, and integrating youth voices into Ebonyi's agenda. Policymakers collaborated with enthusiastic participants, fostering dynamic discussions and leading to the formulation of policy frameworks and action plans.
Notable highlights included energetic discussions, active engagement between youth and policymakers, and the formulation of policy frameworks during group sessions. Participants, grouped strategically, addressed challenges in health, education, economics, and agriculture. Group 1 focused on health and education reforms, emphasizing the revitalization of primary health centers and innovative measures in education.
Group 2 tackled economic challenges, addressing issues like over-taxation and the lack of support for SMEs. Group 3 highlighted issues in education, economics, and health, proposing solutions such as prioritizing teacher welfare and implementing a well-regulated tax system. Group 4 identified challenges in health, education, and the economy, advocating for wider health insurance coverage and a comprehensive policy framework.
Policy solutions and decisions emerged, encompassing economic policies, health policies, and educational policies. Noteworthy proposals included a skill development program, tax regulation and business development policies, alumni engagement and educational impact tracking policies, and a sustainability plan for the educational sector.
The summit concluded with gratitude to participants, policymakers, and partners, expressing optimism that the generated ideas would lay the foundation for Ebonyi State's transformation and development. The commitment to integrating youth voices into policy-making showcased One Youth Global's dedication to fostering positive change.
